One more step along the world I go

Street Pastors have had an eventful 2017 so far: the recruitment and training of new volunteers has increased the numbers in our teams. At the end of May, fourteen new Street Pastors were commissioned and a joyful and moving night was had by all. This means that when we can divide into sub-teams of 3 we can simultaneously patrol more areas of the city centre. One is with an exclamation mark – What Next!

‘Oh no something else has gone wrong‘

The other is with a more positive question mark – What next?

‘We’ve reached a place where we need to decide what steps to take to move forward.’

Most of us involved in Go For It Funded projects will have experienced a fair share of both. In recent years, Wellwood, the village where we run ‘The Well’ was devastated by school closure but has also undergone a series of positive changes – rebuilding of community, council funded initiatives to improve roads and housing and the setting up of a Community Council and floral group which received a Silver Award in 2016... read more

Keeping the Lamp Burning

Our church and its congregation began looking at different ways to worship in 2014 with the aid of a small research grant from Go For It. In this the 3rd year of our journey, the members of our congregation who run Christian Clubs in two of our local schools – the SUPA Club in Springholm and the Scripture Union Club at Crossmichael, have joined forces and are making preparations to host a summer Holiday Club for local children of Primary School age [5 – 11] using resources from the Scripture Union to engage with youngsters in the various activities which form part of their programme “Wastewatchers”... read more
